Ang Panday

A meteor crashes into the desert of Sto. Sepulcro. Flavio, the panday of the community, forges a dagger and a churchbell from the remains of the meteor. He uses the dagger to fight off the Sombra Oscura, the minions of evil, who constantly attacks the town. By some mystical power, the dagger of Panday transforms into a great sword every time he wields it in defense of the people of Sto. Sepulcro.

Panday: The Making of a TV Legend

The story behind the making of Panday, one of the late industry legend Fernando
Poe Jr.'s enduring celluloid legacies, is one of faith. Great, unwavering faith.
Around October last year, after Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas's phenomenal run, Jericho Rosales was able to see Brad Pitt's spectacular action epic Troy and was smitten
with it. So deeply that when his ABS-CBN bosses asked one of their most important stars if he had anything in mind for a major TV comeback, Jericho didn't have to think twice. Panday was it.

Expectedly, when ABS-CBN greenlighted the project, only one name was on board right from the start: Jericho Rosales.

The search for a leading lady ensued, with newbies and established female stars vying for the part. This naturally caused an interminable delay in the production but
everyone who believed in the project, from its producers, lead star Jericho Rosales, its two directors Toto Natividad and Rechie del Carmen down the line, never lost faith in the project.

They knew that televiewers had been waiting for it and so their dedication never
wavered. Until Panday found its his Eden, Heart Evangelista who welcomes the chance to veer away from her trademark sweet image with open arms.

"We auditioned many stars," director Toto Natividad shares. "But not one of them
has Heart's intensity. The chemistry between Jericho and Heart is so unmistakable."
"This was what I've been waiting for since the day I was born," Heart gushes.
"It will change everything."

With the palpable chemistry between its two lead stars, plus Victor Neri's return in a villain role, a powerhouse cast that includes Philip Salvador in a cameo as Flavio, the original Panday, the panoramic scenes shot in the mangroves of Bohol and sand dunes of Ilocos, a TV-made-for-movie treatment of a story of love and adventure that transcends time, heaven and earth and everything else in between, Panday promises to be the TV event of the year. Indeed, the wait was well worth it.
